About Willow & Wings
A little creativity. A little calm. And a lot of lovely things.
Willow & Wings began with a love of crafting, a rather ridiculous collection of beautiful papers and little treasures, and a belief that creativity doesn’t have to be about making something perfect.
Sometimes, making something is simply about taking a little time for yourself.
For me, crafting has become exactly that.
Where it all began
Creativity has always been part of my life, but Willow & Wings has a particularly special beginning.
My mum was a crafter too. She collected papers, fabrics, embellishments and all those little things that make creative people say “I have absolutely no idea what I’m going to do with this, but I NEED it.”
When she died, I was left with many of her craft supplies.
For a long time, they were simply her things. Precious, difficult to part with, and full of memories.
Eventually, I began using them.
And somewhere amongst the papers, ribbons and boxes of forgotten treasures, the beginnings of Willow & Wings appeared.
Crafting became more than a hobby
There have been times when my mental health has been incredibly difficult, and during some of the hardest periods of my life, creativity became one of the ways I could quieten everything down for a while.
Not by creating masterpieces.
Not by finishing enormous projects.
Sometimes just by choosing a piece of paper. Making a tag. Cutting something out. Putting two things together because I liked how they looked.
Crafting gave my mind somewhere gentle to go.
That idea sits at the heart of Willow & Wings.
You don’t need to be artistic. You don’t need an enormous craft room. You don’t even need to know what you’re making when you start.
You can simply sit down, choose something that makes you happy and see where it takes you.
Why the packs are a little different
Every Willow & Wings pack is put together by hand.
I choose the papers, textures and ephemera individually, looking for pieces that work beautifully together while still giving you plenty to discover and play with.
That means your pack won’t necessarily be identical to the photographs — and that’s intentional.
You might find vintage-style papers, book pages, lace, ribbon, little tags, tickets, stickers, handmade pieces or something unusual I’ve discovered and couldn’t resist adding.
Some items may only appear in a handful of packs.
I want opening one to feel a little like rummaging through a very lovely craft drawer.
Except somebody else has already done the rummaging for you.
Made for creating your way
Willow & Wings isn’t about rules.
Use everything in one journal. Save your favourite piece for six months because it’s too nice to use. Cut things up. Tear them. Ink them. Layer them. Stick something somewhere purely because it makes you smile.
There is no correct way to be creative here.
Whether you’ve been journalling for years or you’re opening your first ever pack of craft supplies, you’re welcome.
And the name?
Willow represents resilience, calm and the ability to bend without breaking.
Wings represent freedom, change and finding the courage to move forward.
Together, they seemed to capture exactly what I wanted this little business to be about.
And, perhaps most importantly, Willow & Wings gives some of the things my mum collected a chance to become part of somebody else’s story.
I think she’d rather like that.
